It
has been said that charity
begins at home. What better
way to teach our children
to be active, compassionate
members of society than
to demonstrate the compassion
in ourselves? The MOMS
Club of Monroe is involved
in many service causes.
Here are some examples:
Project
Linus this group
sews blankets for children
in hospitals. These blankets
are also given to police
to use when they come across
a child in need.
Bow
Wow club members,
and their children, mix
and bake homemade dog biscuits
and present them to the
local dog shelter as treats
for dogs waiting to be
adopted.
Thanksgiving
Dinner Each
holiday season the club
adopts a needy family and
prepares a fresh, home
cooked Thanksgiving dinner
for the family to enjoy.
Memory
Boxes Members
participate in creating
handmade craft boxes that
are decorated and donated
to area hospitals. The
boxes are then given to
families who have lost
a child, using it as a
place to keep special memories
of their lost loved one.
Greeting
Card Recycling
Club members collect all
kinds of greeting cards
and send to St. Jude's
Children's Hospital for
charitable use.
MOMS
Club Cookbook
The club publishes and
sells its own cookbook
with proceeds going to
a local charitable cause
or organization.
